In pretty much all WordPress themes there is a filed called page.php. This is the template that controls “Pages” – one of the default type of content that all WordPress sites have. Pages differ from Posts in that they don’t go to the RSS feed, they don’t use the permalink URL structure you choose for Posts, and they are able to have a parent page, creating nested structure.
Pages are great for “timeless” content like an about page or contact page. Jeff’s site has both of those. We don’t pick any particular template for these pages, we leave them at “Default Template” and then fix up the page.php template to accomodate.
We have a bit of a discussion about headers and which headers we should alter to meet our needs on this generic template.
